Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Marinara Sauce:

  • 2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Prepare the Meatballs:

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, eggs, chopped parsley, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper.

Mix the ingredients until well combined.

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

Brown the Meatballs:

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of olive oil.

Brown the meatballs on all sides, working in batches if necessary.

This step helps to enhance the flavor.

Prepare the Marinara Sauce:

In the slow cooker, combine crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.

Mix well.

Place the browned meatballs into the sauce, ensuring they are evenly distributed.

Slow Cook:

Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours.

This slow cooking process allows the flavors to meld and the meatballs to become tender.

Serve:

Once the meatballs are cooked through, serve them over cooked pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Enjoy your delicious Slow Cooker Meatballs Marinara! This recipe is perfect for a comforting family dinner or a gathering with friends.
